Fordonsdalen
The international competitiveness of the automotive industry is important for the Stockholm region’s growth. Therefore, Region Stockholm, as project owner, in collaboration with the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Kista Science City and Södertälje Science Park, has implemented five projects under the framework “Fordonsdalen 1.0” during the years 2020-2023. The projects have aimed to strengthen the automotive industry’s competitiveness in the ongoing green and digital transformation where international competition is fierce.
The projects are now finished but we want to continue to enhance this work. We need to take a broader approach and gear up the work together for the continued international competitiveness of the automotive industry and the sustainable transformation of the mobility system.
Region Stockholm has tasked Kista Science City, KTH, Lindholmen Science Park and Södertälje Science Park with producing an updated and developed needs document with a view to establishing a joint program office for this purpose. Region Stockholm has financed this work. For a program office to become a reality, more actors need to contribute.

Region Stockholm is open for suggestions and proposals that can enhance the quality and impact of Fordonsdalen, and that can create value for the automotive industry, the transport system, and the society. Fordonsdalen is a unique initiative that aims to promote future mobility and sustainability in the Stockholm region, by supporting the transformation of the automotive industry through smart specialization. By collaborating with partners from academia, industry, and public sector, Fordonsdalen offers opportunities for innovation, testing, and demonstration of new solutions and business models.
